General incorporated association, Dementia improved support Association of Japan endeavors to make dementia zero for dementia patients and their families in Japan as well as in the world.
Our association will continue to pursue scientific research to deliver valuable contents for recovery of cognitive functions, along with providing helpful information for specific situations as much as possible.
Alzheimer’s is a progressive brain disease that mostly occurs in people around the age of 65.
It causes gradual decline such as memory impairment, personality changes and mental disorders, and eventually leads to death.
In the United States, estimated 6.5 million people who are 65 or older currently live with Alzheimer’s.
The Alzheimer’s Association expects that number to reach 12.7 million by 2050.

Here’s a presentation on what is going on in Zero Dementia Community Project headed by our chairman Prof. Masao Mori.

Prof. Mori talks about what happened after the last video.
Every day Prof. Mori thinks about what people might need in the project.
This time he explains his new invention that stimulates bowel movement and provides iron and vitamins.
A paper from National Cancer Center Japan revealed that higher dietary fiber intake is associated with lower risk of death, with the result showing that the mortality rate decreased by about 23% for males and 18% for females.
Similar data are reported in Europe and the United States.
In those countries the risk of death is lowered by dietary fiber from grain derived fiber, whereas in Japan it is remarkably reduced by fibers from beans, vegetables, and fruits.
Now that intestinal bacteria are attracting more attention, Prof. Mori has started developing a green juice like never before.
There are many green juices made from barley grass that have been highly advertised in Japan.
However, barley grass is not well balanced in the quality of its fiber, because it is mostly insoluble.
This is why Prof. Mori picked up Mulukhiya.
Raw Mulukhiya contains 1.3g of soluble fiber and 4.6g of insoluble fiber per 100g.
Compared to other vegetables, it is remarkably rich in soluble fiber.
The ideal ratio of soluble and insoluble fiber is said to be 1:2.
Among all vegetables that contain both types of fibers, Mulukhiya’s ratio is close to the ideal value, which makes the vegetable one of the best foods that regulates intestinal environment.
Also, many supplements containing heme iron are widely sold in Japan, being advertised as effective in preventing anemia, which is common in females.
However, heme iron is not so effective because of its poor absorption.
To achieve better absorption, Prof. Mori decided to try organification of iron.
This is how iron enriched yeast was introduced.
The product will be even better with multiple vitamins, as well as lactic acid bacteria that regulate intestinal environment.
Currently Prof. Mori is working on a prototype product that contains those ingredients.
Besides, we are going to use calcinated scallop shell calcium with a pH of 12 for disinfection, deodorization, and bleaching in our facility.
Because of its safety for human body, the calcium can be used for keeping oral health, in addition to cleaning tables and deodorizing clothes.
Of course, it is effective for prevention of viral infection.
Prof. Mori is always working on something that would benefit residents’ life.

Prof. Mori questioned himself what happy life is, and reached those words that he wants to share: “All is well that ends well.”
As a way to giving hope for dealing with a tragic experience at the last stage of life called dementia, Prof. Mori has shared how to cure the disease along with depression.

〇 Physiology to know more about human body
Physiology is the very basic science to study mechanism of human body and life.
It requires exhaustive observation of human body itself.
On the other hand, pathology is the study to identify cause of disease or malfunction, clarifying mechanism of them.
It focuses on disease itself, which makes it serve as the most basic way to treat a specific disease.
Many doctors pay much attention to pathological approach.
However, they should put more emphasis on physiology, because it is the principle that should be referred when regulating bodily function.
As every disease has its mechanism, human body has the innate mechanism to cure disease.
We need to enhance our bodily mechanism to cure illness.
“That’s all I’ve ever done.”
“I’m just a physiologist, a researcher.”
These words reflect how much Prof. Mori cherishes each and every individual’s life with his caring, thoughtful attitude.

Prof. Mori talks about what is going on in Tsumagoi Farm, where we produce Reishi – Ganoderma lucidum, the main ingredient of KOUKA.
Now the mushrooms have germinated and begun to show their cute caps.
The other day we had a contact from a Russian woman, who was originally Japanese but became a Russian citizen due to complicated historical background.*
She wanted to see our farm after learning about the benefit of the mushroom.
As you can see in the video, Prof. Mori is highly motivated to support what this woman is doing, knowing how passionate she is on her mission.
* At the end of August 1945, a little after World War ended, the entire island of Karafuto came under control of the Soviet Union. Now Russia continues to effectively control over the island. After Karafuto became Sakhalin as a part of the Soviet Union, Japanese nationals had evacuated from the island until 1959. However, many Japanese and Koreans were forced to remain for various reasons.

〇 What is Neo Anti Stress?
Recently, more researchers across the world point out that decrease in serotonin level might be associated to dementia onset.

〇 What is KOUKA?
KOUKA is a processed food of Raishi – Ganoderma lucidum.
